Confused: part 1

Right from the box: the charger; why the clip? Why not plug it directly into the watch? Why an additional apparatus to be misplaced or lost? It must be plugged into the computer not an outlet! Once plugged in, it turned on, but it froze! I had to remove the battery to restart it; nothing else would work. It says to let charge for 2-3 hours before first use...mine took 15 hours. I had just given up when it just started up...only an hour into it, lets see how this goes...
